What is a powder cord?
A powder cord is a ribbon or heavy string about six to ten feet long (ours are 9 feet) that attaches to your ski binding and helps locate your ski when it detaches from your boot in deep powder. As the loose ski submarines under the snow, the powder cord unfurls out behind it on the surface.
How do I attach powder cords to my skis?
There are several ways to attach your cords. Please see the photos and descriptions here on the website.
Why do I need PowderCordPouches?
The traditional way to carry a powder cord is to stuff it into your pants leg, coil it under a rubber band, etc. These inadequate methods often result in the cord trailing along behind you, tangling with your other ski, wrapping around trees, and impeding your access to the chair lift. PowderCordPouches eliminate these hassles.
Do PowderCordPouches include powder cords?
You can buy PowderCordPouches with or without powder cords. Just click on your choice when ordering.
What happens when I take my skis off?
Ski removal is easy! Simply unclip your PowderCordPouches from the fronts of your legs, step out of your skis, and unhook the cords from the bindings. PowderCordPouches are especially useful if you ride gondolas, snow cat ski, heli ski, or find yourself in any other situation where you clip in and out of your skis frequently.
PowderCordPouches look bulky. Is it easier to carry my cords in my pockets on iffy days?
No! Just stuff the cords completely into the PowderCordPouches and clip them around your boots. That way, you’ll always have your cords with you whether you need them or not and your pockets will be free for your sun screen, lip balm, hand warmers, energy bars, and all the other junk you carry.
Do PowderCordPouches come in different sizes?
Nope. One size fits all; the strap will adjust to any size boot.
How durable are the PowderCordPouches?
PowderCordPouches are very durable. The pouch material is Top Gun marine awning. The attachment strap is 1 inch wide poly webbing. The tri-glide and buckle are the same high quality hardware you already have in your backpack, fanny pack, etc.
What if a PowderCordPouch tears or breaks?
We are unaware of any failures, but PowderCordPouches are guaranteed for life. Just return the damaged pouch for free repair or replacement.
What if I lose a PowderCordPouch?
Zounds! In the unlikely event you lose a pouch, we will replace it for half the cost of a pair. (Shipping cost will be the same as for a pair.)
I’m fashion conscious. Will PowderCordPouches match my outfit?
The pouch itself is basic black with a white logo. The poly straps are available in a variety of colors, including black. If you don’t see the color you want, send us six feet of your chosen strap color and we’ll custom make a pair of PowderCordPouches for you at no additional charge. (Note: material must be 1 inch wide poly webbing.)
Won’t I look like a dweeb with PowderCordPouches?
Absolutely not! You will look like a dweeb trailing a loose powder cord behind you or, even worse, stabbing around in the snow with your ski poles searching for your lost, cordless ski.
OK, you sold me. How do I order?
| Easy! Just click on the BUY button, make your color choice(s) and we will ship your order via USPS Priority Mail within a few days.
